Enjoy a private Inside Access from Chase evening hosted by Chef Sarah Grueneberg, 2017 James Beard Award winner for “Best Chef Great Lakes.” Located in Chicago’s West Loop, as a neighborhood restaurant Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio blends the traditions of Italian culture and cooking with influencers from Chef Sarah Grueneberg’s upbringing in Texas and trips around the world.
Guests will begin their evening with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception. During this time Chef Grueneberg will demonstrate pasta 101 from the Pastificio, which is elevated behind the bar and where the team makes fresh pasta daily. Then all will be seated for a specially curated four-course wine paired dinner. The evening will be served with a mix of individual and family style plates and will feature handcrafted pasta made fresh daily at the pastificio, showcased in two distinct ways: pasta tipica, classic Italian pastas, and pasta atipica, Grueneberg’s innovative new combinations. Complementing the pasta, are Stuzzichini (snacks), primi piati (before pasta), large format family-style entrees and dessert.
Originally from Houston, Sarah Grueneberg discovered her love of cooking at a young age by cooking with her Grandparents at their ranch in Victoria, Texas. Chef Grueneberg moved to Chicago in 2005 to join the team at the award-winning Spiaggia under the leadership of Tony Mantuano. While she was Executive Chef, Spiaggia was awarded one Michelin Star for three consecutive years. In recent years she competed on “Top Chef: Texas" and “Iron Chef Gauntlet” and in April 2018 Chef Grueneberg premiered the new WTTW – PBS Chicago show “Dishalicious,” where she serves as host and invites three guest chefs, and friends, to create dinner party dishes in front of a live studio audience.
Since opening in 2015 with business partner and long-time friend Meg Sahs, Monteverde has been widely acclaimed by many outlets. Monteverde quickly received three out of four stars by The Chicago Tribune, and other numerous accolades including: one of Food & Wine’s “America’s Best Restaurants,” a top 50 finalist in Bon Appetit’s “Best New Restaurants” list, and “Restaurant of the Year” in the 2018 Jean Banchet Awards.
During the evening guests will have an opportunity to hear first-hand about Chef Grueneberg’s culinary journey.
